FS, 2007 Gibson / Larry Corsa LCPGLP Faded #54
£1400 posted.
I am offering for sale here an early Larry Corsa modded Gibson Les Paul Faded model.
This was ordered by myself directly from Larry at the time he was offering this service through his site.
At the time, he was starting to build a business around his modifications to Gibson LP’s to recreate the tone from Peter Green and Gary Moore’s ‘Greeny’ Les Paul.
He had discovered that the model that Gibson had introduced, the ‘Faded’ line, made a perfect base model to accurately get the tone, closer than had previously been done by just a magnet flip in the pickups.
A large part of this discovery was down to the chambered design that Gibson had introduced around 2006, and has since been widely used.
Larry felt that the chambering helped to enhance the ‘woody’ and nasal sound that is part of Greeny’s tone, apart from just putting the pickups out of phase.
Larry began to buy up as many of the faded models he could find, either direct from Gibson, or through his own customer base, and perform a package of modifications to offer as a distinct model, the LCPGLP. ( LINK) https://corsaguitars.com/
His website listed available guitars, and a deposit would secure the guitar, which was then modified and documented, with sound clips, before the balance was paid and the guitar sent out.
He would also perform his mods to customers own guitars, by this time the mods consisted of a complete re-wire with the best quality parts, hardware upgraded to Faber parts, nickel pickup covers on top of his modified stock pickups (the magnet flip) and a polish or buffing of the faded finish, which he felt was another aspect that enhanced the tone for this model.
I selected this guitar from the available ones, and took delivery some time in 2008.
My only contribution was that I had a bone nut installed by Chandlers, everything else was exactly as promised, and the guitar sounds incredible. It perfectly creates the famous sound of ‘Greeny’
I offered it for sale here previously, with a link to Larry’s own gallery page, but he has since expanded his business to build his own models, based on these, as the ‘Faded’ line was discontinued a long time ago, and his gallery of early models is no longer visible.
When I recently looked to re-post for sale, I discovered that a small separation was visible in the top, probably due to the unusual grain at the thinnest part of the carved top, and I sought advice on this forum as to how to proceed.

The consensus of advice, was to try to sell ‘as is’, and reduce the price accordingly, which is what I have decided to do.
The gallery of pictures I originally used is no longer available, so I have tried to get the best shots i could of the guitar, which show it’s current condition, which is pretty much as I received it, it has not had a lot of play time, and I have always kept it cased, which may have helped cause the issue I am talking about.
I have tried to be as open and honest as I can about this, the ‘issue’ is purely cosmetic, and is only visible under close inspection, although due to the finish-or lack of- any attempt to fill would possibly show. I have reduced my desired price to reflect the cost of a professional top refin, which would eliminate the problem completely.
I apologise for the length of this ad, but have tried to explain the guitar as fully as possible, I’ll let the pictures do the talking from here on.

Just a quick one, you mentioned in your op about maybe the case storage hasn't helped with the separation. I noticed in one pic you have a pack of silica gel in there I think? Perhaps could be an idea to get shot of that, might not be helping the issue? (I could be wrong but from limited reading I've done online you don't want it in your guitar cases once it's been shipped).
My head said brake, but my heart cried never.
It has a 50's profile neck, and I will get some pics of the fretboard up soon. Any others needed?
cheers.
