New guitar? Ideas? So much choice.

Deck chairs being moved around a bit. Currently, I have a Guild Polara (reissue) and a telemaster in the making, so that's HH and single coils covered. I have a Denelctro U1, which is ok, but might move it on.

Wouldn't mind something covering a different area sonically. So options here would be semi hollow/hollow body.

I am thinking Gretsch because filtertron pickups might offer something different to what I have. Other option is an Epi Casino. Had one before and liked it. I might stay away from anything hollow/semi hollow with HH. 

They seem to be hard to come by with P90s, though I could always install H sized P90s in e.g. a Joe Pass....
Those floating bridges, I am not a fan of though....

Leave aside baritones for now. Different beast altogether. I've also had Jazzmasters, and just when I think I'd like to revisit, I decide against them...

Get a full hollow with bigsby gretsch, or check out fidelity guitars - they're local to me and look amazing! Sadly out of my reach, although they do have a single pickup line now... Not hollow but super fun.

Having a look at the Gretsch site now. The limited edition hollow body with P90 in neck looks great. Decent price too.

Gretsch are great guitars, even the Chinese range are very good.  I love filtertrons

Real Filtertrons are only on the Pro range, at that price you might as well get a Rickenbacker. always the best answer IMHO

@RonnieHotdogs A Ric 620 would be awesome but not sure where it would fit into my bedroom notions of minimal noodling anti hero stoner stuff. Stunning guitars though. Maybe best to hold my gas in for a while.

I've had all sorts of filters from the Gretsch and TV Jones stables and the Blacktops in the 54xx Electromatic range are my favourite of them all. Much more life, grit and texture than the ones made to give that Chet Atkins sound. Of course folks like Brian Setzer have never had a problem getting something amazing from the old school filters

I don't really like floating bridges, but I don't feel I understand them well enough.

I'm not a fan of floating bridges, one thing that's holding me back, though maybe a solid body gretsch could be worth a look

Floating bridges and Bigsbys do make things a little different but they're really not the trouble that some people like to make out they are. Most of the modern Gretschs have pins to make sure the location of the bridge bass doesn't wander when you take all the strings off. All of my Gretsch guitars got used at some point in my "really too old to be this punk" band and none ever gave me any problems at all.

They are guitars that you'll either love or not, so definitely ones to try before you buy.

As I was reading this all my suggestions came up post by post!

I concur that Gretsch floating bridges aren't as difficult as one might imagine. And Rickies could very well fit into an anti hero stoner vibe - although he isn't that, Guy from Fugazi could make a 330 work really well in a non-traditional Rickenbacker role.

If you can find one, an Epiphone Nick Valensi sounds like it might be of interest to you.

Edit: and as society and stores start opening up, it looks like you are set to have a pretty fun time finding out what you might like.

@Pabcrane Good shout on Epi Valensi. Is that a full hollow? I was thinking of a Guild Starfire SC, but I have a Guild Polara SG which has the same pickups, so sonically I don't think it might be that different.
A Ric, but I'd have to get my hands on one....
Other option is an SG with P90s (or a Gordon Smith version)

@markblack some great suggestions there. The Fidelity ones look really cool. I don't think I can justify spending 3 grand on a guitar currently, but with the smallest of excuses.... I'd be in like a shot

Fidelity have their “lite” range which start at £899 - freaking bargain quite frankly for a guitar with slightly limited versatility, but he’s open to doing customisation on them so worth an ask!

 A 125 is one of two 'that got away'. It was in Australia and was maybe 1200 AU Dollars (which is dirt cheap). By God it sounded good. I still kick myself occasionally...
