I did my longest ever bike ride today

I did my longest ever bike ride today, just under 88km in just under 5 hours. My legs are knackered! Not bad for an old boy of 57. I was on the mountainbike, some of it was off road and tough going and other parts were road. 743m of climbing, most of it in the last third.

I realise that it's peanuts compared to some people (My dad at age 70 won a veterans 12 hour race!) but I'm pretty pleased.

Excellent stuff. I'm way behind in my capabilities, but it's good to get some inspiration from your perspiration.

Well done, that's around the most I've done in the last few years too, but arse ache is definitely my biggest problem when it comes to stamina.

In my twenties I regularly did 80 odd miles in a day, although it would take me ALL day.

Nice one. 5 hours biking in this weather is good going at any age.

Sounds like a fun Saturday :) 730 meters of up is always a good effort.

Well done. I have been working on my average speed  over lockdown. I am hitting 15.5 mph over 35 miles and just missed out on 16mph by 2/10 yesterday. Road bike. Not bad for someone who will get his bus pass in two years time.

I like Runkeeper best. It's free and I use it to track Cycling, Running and Walking.

    Well done very impressive
As with most things through my life my app reads much like my school reports "is a capable young man but just needs to try harder". LOL
Again I am constantly amazed the results older cyclists get.

    Anyway have a wow

Great stuff - I can do 55 miles on the road bike, but no more than that. I was going to attempt a 75 mile route, but two of my friends tried it before me and just ended up making themselves unwell.

I prefer hiking, but it's always good to keep things varied.

I was a runner first and foremost but I've worn my hip joint, so nowadays just 1 run a week. I really miss running, but walking is OK. I'm a fair weather cyclist though!

Managed 30m in a round trip today, but with a leisurely 5m walk at our destination. Almost completely flat going though. Overtaken by a lot of dayglo dudes on road-bikes!

Very good, I think my best in older years was about 25 miles but that was in the Netherlands co not sure it counts for much. I haven't been on my bike much this year, probably twice and less than 5 miles each time. Keep up the good work.
