    Mr Brightside chord.
    Brightside isn't really a chord as he always plays it arpeggiated. I would say When You Were Young is an absolutely iconic opening chord though.

    Also Roll With It.

    And Wonderwall.

    And Don't Look Back In Anger, though that's as much the piano sound as the chord itself.

  • Graham Coxon plays a weird major/minor butchered chord in coffee and tv. Could never work it out until he demonstrated it on TPS.

  • Pixies - Here Comes Your Man.  I think it's a D7b9, but nowhere near a guitar to try it.

    ....and a pretty simple but effective “E major up an octave” in Parklife.

    is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

    The first chord Alex plays in “Hemispheres” by Rush has ruined that chord for me no matter what the context.
    Great intro! Great album.

    There's nothing unique about it, but the power chord at the beginning of Nightrain by Guns n Roses is quite distinctive.
    @skullfunkerry - it's the cowbell in that one that makes me think of the tune whenever I hear one.

    Donk, donk, donk, donk, BRAA-AANG!

    One of my fave chords is one you hear, among other places, on Stevie’s organ in I’m A Man.
    On guitar it works like this, using all strings:
    Forefinger on second fret, fifth string;
    Middle finger on second fret, fourth string;
    Third finger on third fret, second string;
    Pink on third fret, top string.
    No idea what it’s called, probably a variation on G major, but it sounds enormous.

  • I use a chord, don’t know what it is, I call it the Bread chord.
    First finger 3 string 2nd fret,
    Third finger 4 string 4th fret
    Fourth finger 5 string 4th fret
    play all strings.
    Use it in Make it with you by Bread and also Peaceful easy feeling The Eagles.

    F#m7add4 (or is it add11) / E

    It’s nice.

    Do you really play it with your pinky and ring fingers that way round?
