Victory V50 Earl Volume drop

Evening all,

I have an odd issue with my Earl V50. The crunch channel is the one acting up - it sounds great for about 15 seconds then the volume drops slowly up to about 10% of where it was. If I change to the regular clean, or switch to channel 2 and back, it’s loud again initially and the cycle repeats. This happens in 15 and 50w modes no matter where the master volume is set to.

The crunch channel is accessed by pulling on the gain knob of the clean channel. The clean channel itself is unaffected, as is the gain channel which is also working 100%.

I spoke to Victory today who suggested replacing one 12AX7 at a time until I found the culprit. I fortunately it that didn’t work! It’s no biggie as I don’t use this channel, it’s just annoying!

I had something similar a while back. Giving the jack inputs (input, loop, speakers etc) a clean with contact cleaner seemed to fix the issue .
