The Best Metallica Song

What's Hot

It is I Disappear. No question.

- Tape stop effects.
- Sick nu-metal riffage.
- Snare that is in tune.
- Sick bridge harmonics.
- Sick sick sick
- More Hetfield YEAHHHH!!'s than you can shake a priapic finger at.
- Anti-herd-conformity music video.

And Justice For All? Sod off.

Bye!

  • I love 90s Metallica, but I always find myself going back to kill em all .... the rawness and unsophistication of it, it gets me just as pumped as it did when I first discovered it in my brother’s old cassette collection.

I Disappear is hilarious. I like it, but it's such a product of its time. I ate up all that late 90s, early 2000s nu metal up too and I still listen to it sometimes. Except Creed.

First time I saw a relic guitar too, I think.

My personal favourite Metallica song is Fade To Black.

I disappear was the last good thing Metallica did.

I’ve never been more disappointed than my first listening to Frantic on Metallica’s website.. I thought it was a joke.

  • Anything from ‘Hardwired To Self Destruct’. Thar album turned me into a Metallica fan. It’s all on the rockier side of metal.

  • I stopped really taking any notice of them in the 90s.. massive fan of the classic stuff though. Faster the better for me though generally with them.

I didn't realise I Disappear was so long ago, they look so young in the video.  20 years later Tom Cruise is still making M:I films and he barely looks any different.

It's not their best song but they certainly haven't done anything better since.

That used to be my favourite, and master of puppets and lightning , I didn’t get on with the black album at all when it came out , now about 29 years later The black album has grown on me

I loved everything up to and including Reload, but St. Anger was such a crushing disappointment it really changed the way I feel about the band.

Death Magnetic and Hardwired... to Self-Destruct may very well be better than I give them credit for, but I just haven't got the patience or inclination to listen to them.

James Hetfield is the reason I picked up a guitar. Master of Puppets was the best thing ever when it came out, and then I gorged on Ride The Lightning and Kill 'Em All. Justice was incredible but the dry production was an issue.
Black album was a case of 'imagine if Justice had sounded as good as that', it just sounded so so heavy.
Then Load came out and they cut their hair and put on the guyliner and nail polish and everything I liked about them vanished. They even got rid of their classic logo ffs.

So.. Master of Puppets is their best song, as is Fade To Black, as is Welcome Home (Sanitarium). And their best song is Dyer's Eve.

I remember going to the big black album listening party at hammersmith odeon.
There was a whole load of us sitting on the stairs half way through looking gutted.
