A true superhero to me since I was a kid. I'm stunned tbh.

    RIP Edward.

Shocked to get a text from my mate telling me this. First Van Halen album was a cracker. First saw them Brum Odeon in 79, awesome. RIP Eddie

  • Something about Eddie and DLR back in the 80s set them apart from the rest of the (mainly UK) heavy rock of the time. On my very first pay day of my first job in 1986 I went up to oxford street hmv and bought every VH album and played them to death.  He was one cool mofo

I only found out about this when I saw "6 threads and counting..." over in the guitar section a minute ago.

I'm shocked.  I knew his health had gone downhill again recently but had no idea this was coming.

One of the absolute greats, certainly one of the most influential rock guitarists of all time.  And quite a significant figure in the evolution of the electric guitar itself.  RIP.

That strange feeling as these names are getting closer.
But EVH -- I can still remember the wtf moment, like where I was and what I was doing, when my mate played me a bit of the first VH album which had just come out.
It's not often music gives you a flashbulb memory.
    Hey ho, RIP Eddie.

I just had to write this for the site and it was hard, he did so much and changed so much in the world of guitar.
