Nothing to add to what’s already been said. I probably play more EVH in the car than anything else, I’ve only just realised that.

    Great player, sad loss.
This is absurd.  You don’t know what you’re talking about.  It warrants combat.

Bunch of arse. I still can't play Ice Cream Man and I'm 49. An utter talent and very sad news

Really sad. Whatever our individual background/thoughts/opinions about anything else i think every single one of us on this forum can appreciate what a truly great musician and influence he was.

Thank you EVH - for everything

Just found out from my mate, shocked. First VH album was brilliant, saw them at Brum Odeon in 79, they were awesome.  RIP Eddie

I know it doesn’t mean much but I’ve tipped  my tea away and am raising a can of non alcoholic beer to him, sorry I can’t do any better than that Eddie. Cheers.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

So sad, I didn’t know that he had cancer.

    RIP Eddie, an incredible talent.

  • What more can you say?  One of a select few who genuinely did something new with six bits of wire stretched across a plank of wood.
    RIP Eddie.

Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

Completely gutted ... huge shock. For me there's been 3 game changing players, Hank Marvin, Hendrix and VH but I would say VH changed the game more than anyone else. But as good as the technique was though, it was generally always in a great song with either great humour or great aggression. Whatever is was it always sounded epic. Has there been anything in the guitar world more iconic that than Eruption or the crossover Feat EVH Beat it solo ?

A flawed man as all geniuses are but will be sadly missed, makes you wonder if anyone can be that game changing again

Like him or loathed him no one could ever say he didn’t bring something to the guitar world. He was up there with the likes of Hendrix imo. I wasn’t into him tbh but I could easily recognise his genius

OMG , Just heard , what a year , first Peter Green and now EVH , I didn't even know he was that sick.
We are all in shock , we THINK we are upset, but his family must be in bits.

RIP man , you influenced so very many.
