Purchased on this very forum from @dts67 (some of whose photos I have appropriated; my apologies), this beauty is now for sale because i] I made the (totally correct) decision to keep my Redplate Blackline and ii] against all the odds, I was able to buy back my much missed Mesa Boogie Blue Angel head. So, as you know, moderation rules in all things - and with the exception of a handwired Vox AC in my rehearsal space - if I kept the Plexi, I would be down to (a mere) 4 amps, so management rules that this phenomenal creation has to be moved to make space. (and provide funds) Based around a JCM800 preamp, this is a Rift Plexi 25; a truly remarkable amp. Handbuilt by Chris Fantana of Rift Amplification in the UK, this is 25 watts of one off, custom ordered handwired magic, with a full Accutronics reverb tray, and on board valve biasing - similar to the Aynsley Lister Signature model (also made by Rift) in many ways, but with a unique tonal identity of its own. Rift Amplification is one of the only boutique makers to be stocked by Andertons, an affirmation of the quality of this great amp builder. And there's more, because this amp is valve rectified with a GZ34, and will take both EL34s and 6V6s: all you need do when you change the valves is flip the biasing switch on the back panel. Up for EL34s; down for 6V6s; this is a fantastic feature of a beautifully engineered and thoroughly musical amp. EL34s give that Marshall bite; 6V6s offer classic Fender-smooth sparkle. The reverb is a thing of beauty in its own right; the full size tray means you have luxuriant reverb delivered incrementally right across the range of the control; an ECC81 valve in the V3 position means this knob is very progressive in its operation. Beautifully presented in black bronco with a gold woven grille and piping, this amp is bullet proof in its construction, has a sensible and very flexible wattage you can use both at home and on gigs, and a look to die for. Switchable reverb via a bespoke Rift footswitch. For all you Marshall and Fender lovers out there, this creation delivers across the range of tones. Comes complete with EL34s installed, plus a spare set of 6V6s, (an oversized) Roqsolid slip cover, and the usual kettle lead power supply. PPG preferred, and on request I will drive up to 50 miles to meet up and deliver this stunner. Postage is £75 fully insured to the UK. International postage at cost; please ask first! |

Chris Fantana explained that the head is taller than usual to ensure the best separation between the transformers and the reverb tank.
