What other Synth or keyboard

What's Hot
Hi I have a Moog subsequent 37 and am wondering what other synth to buy next. I am into ambient type stuff so really no need for pianos and organs etc.
What would you get if you in my position. Many thanks in advance for your advice

    Something poly.
Prophet Rev 2 would be a good pairing (I have both).
Or any other poly from Sequential.

  • If you're after cool ambient pads and things, a Waldorf Blofeld could be a good shout. Very nice digital synth engine - not analog no but it sounds GREAT!

    Bye!

Yep, my main rig is a Rev 2 and a Subsequent 37 as well, plus some ancillary stuff, but between those two you can do just about anything.

I also have a rev2. Great bit of kit.

I very nearly bought a deepmind 12. Well worth a look.

The Hydrasynth with poly aftertouch and a ribbon controller is at the top of my "allowed to buy when I've flogged other stuff" list.

+1 on the Blofeld - great ambient sounds at a great price.  Also the new Micromonsta 2 is about to be released. MM1 is superb so MM2 will be amazing.   Or a bit more off the wall, but lovely - an Ambika ?

  • Depends on budget. As always.

    Polybrute?

Iridium is great but desktop only, quantum is expensive.

  • I'm going to buck the trend and say that the rev2 sucks balls.
I personally found it quite unpleasant sounding.
Much prefer the prophet 6 and ob6.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Another +1 for the Blofeld, especially for the price. Can get some really nice evolving pads going.
One thing - the output is quite low in comparison to other synths, you'll need a small mixing desk thingy to boost it for live.

    About 10 months.
