Decisions, decisions. Paisley advice sought.

What's Hot

Well I am the luckiest of boys today for all sorts of very good reasons, but amongst which is a birthday present offer by the fair Mrs Moans and our daughter, Moans Mini, to pay for me to get one of my guitars paisleyfied by the forum's very own Scott of @GoldenEraGuitars.  This is something I've had my eye on for absolutely ages, but never felt able to justify the dinero.  But now?  Have at it!

But this leads to another crisis of indecision.  Do I adulterate my EJ Thinline Strat (current front runner), or my much modified and (to me) achingly cool TVL Jazzmaster?

And, once we've got THAT conundrum sorted, do we go for blue, or gold: two of Scott's recent creations pictured.

Decisions, decisions...  But all in a good way D

You do know that it always pays to leave your Johnson unmolested?

Tough choice on colourways though, they both look absolutely awesome.

You’d be astonished how many folks have been desperate to get their trembling, sweaty hands all over my Johnson.

For me the jazzmaster and in gold if pink not an option.

I can’t look at that f hole on the Strat, makes me sad and angry. Don’t draw attention to it!

I think teles and JMs do lend themselves better to that kind of artwork than strats. There’s more body space to work with. And that blue is achingly gorgeous

What, the prominent, resonant f-hole on the Eric Johnson Thinline Stratocaster, that is notable for being a Thinline Stratocaster with a prominent, resonant f-hole arrangement?  That f-hole?

I'd do the Strat, because the Jazzmaster already looks great.

I'd probably go for the gold, but either way it will need a new pickguard... gold-anodised would look fantastic with the gold.

Was thinking gold with aged white for the guard if I went Strat...

  • Blue paisley strat for me
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Yes, that would be good - or 'parchment'. Anything as long as it's not that hideous modern mildew green :).

If you can’t decide you’ll just have to buy a Telecaster and get it finished by SC. I think that’s the correct answer!

The correct answer is to leave your existing guitars alone. Get another one and have that wallpapered.

  • The Strat.

    Gold would be lovely.
A dark green would be nice.
