Any leather workers on here?

I need to sew a couple of buttons onto a leather jacket and I need to know what I need to do this? It's made of pretty thick leather and when I had a look through Mrs F's sewing box none of the needles look anywhere near robust enough to go through.

TIA.

I think the singer in @jacksonunited band is a leather worker pro.  She runs her own leather business i think.

Well I was young and I needed the money...

Any seamstress/tailor could do this for you
Oh not THAT kind of leather worker.

I needed similar on an old jacket and although MrsTheWeary is pretty handy with a needle and thread for leather she said take it to a seamstress. There's a small place in our local mall that does repairs like that, all over the place once you start looking.
Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

I bought a kit for about a fiver from Amazon when the seams of my sofa came apart. It was quite a few very thick needles, a bradawl for making the holes and some different colours of very thick and waxed thread.

If it's just for buttons or tidying up short areas of missing thread, then I use tri-point leather needles like these  https://www.artisanleather.co.uk/3-pack-of-leather-hand-sewing-needles-glovers.html

You're welcome, also try to get hold of a decent thimble or something to protect your fingers.
The resistance of the leather can cause the eye end of the needle to pierce your pushing finger... don't ask how I know.
