Greetings,
I have, this evening, pulled the trigger on a new 'pre-welsh lockdown' FGN Les Paul in goldtop finish.

Heard/read nothing but good things about these and have seen them mentioned in a thread about Les Paul alternatives, but not sure if anyone had one, or had just heard good about them?

Bit worried about buying without trying but the FGN reputation, and buying new online at least give me some comfort. Speaking of comfort, it's just shy of 10lbs. Eek!

  • What does pre-welsh mean?

They're solid wood, weights vary - I've seen some of the lower end models sitting around 8 1/2lbs so yours is a heavy one. Doesn't mean bad... Just maybe not good for 3 hour sets :)

Thanks, it's for home play only so luckily won't need to stand with it, certainly not for a long set.

I meant pre Welsh lockdown, as in, I get two weeks at home with it whilst not at work.

Might spend the first week lifting weights to prepare!!

If my experience of FGN guitars is anything to go by you've got a great guitar there! I haven't owned one but spent a lot of time playing a couple of the higher end ones. They just feel quality. Only negative for me was slightly microphonic pickups but might just have been that I was playing with too much gain for unpotted pickups!

Sure it will be a great guitar, 2 of my 4 electrics are now FGNs so I’m a convert.

I played an LS-20 at Sound Affects the other week and it was a really good Les Paul, at not a lot of cash.
    Sounds like a good score.

I confess I was itching to get that goldtop! Congrats lovely guitar!
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.
