SOLD: Ernie Ball Music Man EBMM EVH Eddie Van Halen guitar JULY 1991.

The sad events of recent weeks got me to thinking about EVH and how I don’t play my Ernie Ball Musicman EVH Eddie Van Halen these days. I’ve had this guitar longer than any other single electric I’ve owned – 18 years. I’ve hung onto it because it’s simply the very best sounding rock guitar I’ve ever heard. The bridge pickup is unbelievable; hot but very articulate. I’ve owned several MM Axis guitars, both Floyd and SuperSport models, but this has smoked them all and has been the one that stayed. TBH, I think that’s simply because it’s aged gracefully. Fabulous, fabulous feeling neck and action to die for. 

It’s July 1991 (I have the original spec sheet with guitar), which is the first few months of production. It’s completely original with original intact solder joints and is in very good nick for a guitar that’s 28 years old. The volume cavity cover even still has the original cellophane on it! Lovely flamed maple neck that has been periodically Casey Tru-oiled and Casey Gunstock waxed throughout its life. Original case also. Only flaw is some very mild buckle rash (see pic) and some pitting on the chrome, but this is very superficial. 

I play 95% acoustic these days so this is wasted on me and it’s long overdue for a new home. I can show the guitar in London but, obviously, socially distanced at the present time depending on tiers etc. I'm after £2200. I have this on the Bay but would far rather avoid Paypal and all that shite. There's another one on the Bay at the moment for £4750...

Stunning guitars - sold mine before EVH died and a few years ago.

What colour is it? - I've read that description several times before I asked, so apologies if I missed it :-)

Just been asked a question re fretwear - there's very little for a guitar of this age. The "worst" is on the 2nd fret, G string. I've tried to upload a pic that shows there's basically a tiny amount of flattening there. It's miles away from a refret. 

Everyone knows these things are for looking at, not actually playing!

Like I said, I'm not really playing any electric these days but if pushed, I might take a Silver Sky (with some cash my way obs) simply because I'm very curious about those given all the fluff on the net about them. I'd play it for a while and then move it on.

I saw recently that one similar to this one sold last year on here for around £1600-£1700 and it haunts me that I missed it! 

I remember seeing one in the now no longer Marcus music in Belfast I’m sure 20 years ago now and it was £1000...and it too haunts me!!

I have to work Sundays so just got home to this lot. 

TBH, I wasn't expecting so much attention - bit of a feeding frenzy in my PM box: In retrospect I probably priced this a bit low given the current interest in EVH but, at the same time, I'm not interested in ripping anyone off. I've loved this guitar for a couple of decades and want someone else to, so I'lll stick with the price posted.  

I should have said I'm not interested in shipping this overseas (don't have the requisite outer box, nor the time to pack it etc). Obviously, it's difficult for people to travel etc. at the moment but I'll work through the messages I've had, in order, and try and sort something fair. Anyway, if my past experience is anything to go by, 90% of defiite buyers will vanish when the cash is requested haha.

I think it's probably gone but it's never over 'til the money has changed hands. I'll post SOLD here when that happens. If the first chap in the "queue" flakes, I'll move onto the second etc. And then onto the offers from abroad haha. Seriously, I had no idea this would be so popular.
