Full band gigs under Tier2 allowed?

Pub gigs for amateur bands. We’re just about to be Tier2 in Derby, we’ve got a gig booked in Nov. I assumed No:
Band members are more than 1 household so can’t socialise in the pub so can’t play together on a stage in the pub.
But then I heard Yes:
Band is Working in the pub so can play. Even if you’re not a pro band.

Anyone know which one it is? Any weekend warriors playing in Tier2 pubs?

The rules on household mixing have various exemptions, including for work purposes.  So if it’s a paid gig it can still go ahead with restrictions on capacity, audience mixing and other controls.  If it’s unpaid it would technically be regarded as a social gathering.

Whether the pub wants to run a gig with reduced customer capacity under Tier 2 is another matter; the band inevitably takes up seating space.

  • Sooo....basically, if venues actually paid original bands, gigs would be able to go ahead there too?

    That's a bit of karma.

A pub in my area has resumed live music. They restrict the capacity to 50, which is about a third of what it can hold and have started to charge (ticket pre-booked) but as I understand it, the money goes to the band or at least a large proportion of it does

My band has performed a few gigs since August, all bar one were outside so I guess no issues with that. The inside gig was in a social club - the attendees were restricted to table service / no standing / no singing along etc. We were allowed to do what we wanted providing that we didn't mix with the audience at any time. It was a strange gig, can't say I'd want to repeat the experience again.
