Cubase AI 6. Yamaha THR10. Dull and low level recording

Guitar teacher said I should be recording my efforts, so I installed Cubase AI6 that came with the THR10 and spent time configuring it, I am now able to record the electric guitar.

The recorded track is low level and the top seems to be cut.  I have found the input level control in Cubase and increased it to maximum but the level is still low and the sound muffled when compared to the live signal.

Is this normal?

I know nothing about recording or DAWs, so any suggestions as to how I might improve the recording would be appreciated.

The laptop has a modern I7 CPU and there is no apparent latency on my quick tests, so I believe it should be up to the job

Thanks guys,

Chris

I can't help you , but I have had similar issues with katana amp+daw .
There are loads of complaints about its recording capability online . I haven't found solution ,so I am now looking into interface and mic .

Maybe someone that owns Yamaha will help you . Best of luck mate .

Thanks Jazzthat, I'll keep digging and see what I can find.  If I discover anything useful I'll come back and update the thread.
