OBS Studio - any good?

The kids are hassling me for some way for them to make some basic youtube vids, but what they want seems to need to be able to have multiple sources and mix it with camera / audio etc.

Is it worth a go? Any better / easier to use free ones?

Free is important for this as I expect they'll get bored very quickly!

OBS is a great piece of software and very powerful but is designed more for live switching of multiple sources and graphics when streaming. You can't use it to edit video that you've already recorded.

  • Da Vinci Resolve if you're looking to record on all the devices, import them and then edit. It's free, and surprisingly functional (the Studio version has a lot more stuff, mind).
