  • For the base model it’s very impressive.

I'll be getting one of these. Looks like 16 gb RAM and 512gb ssd will easily be sufficient for any of the homestudio/amateur projects I'll be throwing at it. Even my 2014 Mini is still chugging along quite nicely, but it is getting a bit long in the tooth. This upgrade looks to be just the ticket. Just hope Apple won't screw it all up with incompatabiltiy issues and price hikes out of nowhere.

I doubt I'd ever need that many plugins for anything. However, if Logic Pro X keeps getting more bloat, I may just need it to turn the machine on and record.

  • I’ve got two Mac Mini’s the brilliant 2014 silver version that’s used as a music server with J River in my audio system and a black 2018 SSD model bought a year ago for studio duties.
I upgraded it from  Catalina to Big Sur yesterday.
It was painless and was done in under two hours.
Will probably load it up with some DAWs tomorrow and see how it goes.
I don’t really want to buy another one when this one has only had a couple of months light use.
I do have 6 and 8 TB back up drives to store on to lighten the load.
