The newish Marc Ford live album. Fantastic version of Neil Young's Lookout Joe.

  • Pink Floyd - The Wall. I have an odd relationship with PF, I really like the guitar solos and bits of songs, but overall it doesn't really grab me. I tried last year with Piper at the Gates of Dawn and wasn't overly impressed, and gave up entirely partway through the complete bollocks that is The Gnome.

But I'm trying again, and The Wall is better. I still don't find  myself fully engaged, but Gilmour's guitar work is very good.

  • Sonmeone mentioned The 59 Sound by The Gaslight Anthem in another thread, and I decided to check it out on a whim. Good stuff, for some reason I kept thinking of The Killers although, while there are some broad similarities, I wouldn't say they particularly sound alike.

I've been listening to this chap's music this morning - surprisingly good and doesn't sound generic like some do. Lots of fun.

Just played "Eclectic" - Eric Johnson, Mike Stern and "Close Up - Another Look" by EJ.
Whatever you say he is staggeringly good and the tones are magnificent.

But wait!  I've just found Greta Thunberg singing "Never Gonna Give You Up".

Watched a film last night and this was the outro tune.  Love it, I find it very reminiscent of The Police - your opinion may differ.

Anyway, I bought the track from iTunes and had been playing it on repeat.

  • Three new albums I've been looking forward to are out today. Ordered Lucifer's Lucifer IV on vinyl but as usual Amazon isn't getting it to me before the weekend. Listening now on Spotify though. Fabulous stuff if you like early 70s Sabbath and Heart you may like this.

The other two albums I've been looking forward to that are out today are by Ad Infinitum and Be'lakor - two quite different flavours of modern metal.

  • And Riverside have a new song out and it's bloody great. One for Marillion or Porcupine Tree fans.

The History of Rock Music in 500 Songs podcast by Andrew Hickey.

Very addictive 50-odd minutes of music bio based around big songs. Lots of attention to detail but very digestible.. I've learned a lot, anyway.
