I’ve recently started playing with recording for the first time since buying a Headrush and this is the first full song over a backing track I’ve recorded. Also got into Extreme recently so I’ve been working on this song for a couple of weeks. Neither the playing nor the mix are perfect but nonetheless I’m keen to share. Used the demo of reaper to record, backing track grabbed from YouTube.

Feedback appreciated, particularly tips on how to make the guitar track feel more part of the song!

Sounds great. Dare I suggest that guitar solos are cool with that amount of gain, but if you want it to sound funky.....then you need a much cleaner guitar sound, and more choppy rhythmically, otherwise it's rock. Just my tuppence.

  • Cheers mate, fair comment but I’m recreating the track here, or at least trying to, and Nuno doesn’t have a clean tone!

So I ran it alongside the original,..firstly the guitars are almost def double tracked, you should do this and pan them as it would instantly live up the sound...then I think your sound needs to be little brighter, its lacking some bite, then sit them back in the mix a little.

Nice playing though....Id def cock that up ;-)

  • Nice one.

I thought I had done the double track thing, the headrush outputs stereo so I'm capturing left and right to separate tracks. When I duplicated them I then got the pans backwards so I just ended up with both tracks going to both sides.

Anyway, I re recorded the lot and I think this is much improved! I did mess up the timing of one of the first riffs but I can't be bothered to re-record it now!
