How far do you go when you say you don't like the band? I can't say I am a fan of Nickelback, but I like a few of their songs. Would that mean I like them, but am not a mega fan?

I really don't understand all the hate for Nickelback.  OK, I've not really followed them since their first album but that one was PDG, IMHO.  The singles they've put out since then haven't been anything close to awful either.

I wish I had a music careeer successful enough to be hated that much!

Just don't get it.

I happen to agree, I just used them as an example. The songs are catchy, well thought out, hard rock/pop. Not a massive fan of the genre as a whole, but for what they are they are fine.

My wife likes that song, but I always manage to annoy her by saying that it's basically a song where he's telling his girl to shut up and talk less.

well it's not a black and white issue, but for instance a lot of people say they can't stand anything by the Beatles, but unless you're into a completely different genre, like rap, I find it hard to believe they dislike everything they've done.
I know what you're getting at, generally speaking I don't like Queen but I don't mind a few of their tracks
