Use some white spirit or lighter fluid to dissolve the adhesive.

Don't scrape as you can scratch the finish.

WD40 is good at dissolving sticker residue.

Lemon oil works on some adhesives too.  You have to wipe off the residue of course.  Smells nice too.

I don't get it either. If they want to print the country of origin, why not do it as many do as part of the decal/serial number etc under the finish. Having it on a sticker is just asking for someone to remove it, which pretty much defeats the point...

Don't get me started on all the crap that comes on CD cases either!

I've still got the sticker on my 08 ric. I carefully stick it back when it starts to peel.

Just heat it gently with a hair dryer and it will come straight off. Lemon juice will work as well.

Some of the stickers relate to EU import regulation compliance. This expedites the checking of individual units in their packaging. On the other hand, the sticker shields the guitar finish from direct sunlight. This can cause uneven discolouration.

e.g. I have a Fender MIM Stratocaster vibrato cavity cover plate from the Nineties on which it is still possible to discern the outline of where the Super Bullets label used to be.

A good post brexit satsuma could turn out to be worth more than the guitar  ;)

Goo Gone.  Essential stuff for anyone's tool cupboard.  I've used safely on a flamed maple top.

  • I thought this was going to be about buying a new guitar & stickering it up... I had *so* many photos ready to go :)
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm probably the only member of this forum mentioned by name in Whiskey in the Jar ;)

Except I don’t have a guitar covered in stickers. I however partial to a good stickering ...

My favourite CD jewel case adornment was the PMRC Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics warning sticker on Jazz From Hell by Frank Zappa - an entirely instrumental album!

Now I'm wondering if there was one of those stickers on the CD of Frank Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention.
