What's Happening in my Search Box?

Ever since yesterday, when I click in Google Search Box (on the Google homepage) it shows searches I have not searched for. Nowt sinister just random bollocks like Covid or some Celeb shite.

The "Searches" have a sort of jagged arrow at the left side of them. Have I been hacked or are these just trending searches or something?

    I know exactly what you mean - I think it's a list of most popular searches.  I've been seeing it for a while though, not just since yesterday.

    I think it's just the most recent trending searches in case you're remotely interested in the things that everyone else is looking at/for. If you do some searches for your own interests, then go back to google homepage and click in the box whilst empty, you'll see it split into "related to your recent searches" and "trending searches". Nothing to panic about.

    Because Google are spunk bubbles, get yourself DuckDuckGo as your search engine and stop them from snooping and dictating what you see.

    It's what appears when I click on Chrome. Might have a go with Duck Duck like @zepp76 said.

    You can change that in settings
