Sad sad news. A hero in an era when that phrase is bandied around way too easily...

    RIP Captain Tom

Likely to go down in history, as a hero of "the greatest generation" who became a beacon of hope for the current one.

Sadly, as a symbol of this damn pandemic, it was always going to get him.

    RIP Sir.
We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...

R.I.P Sir Tom, you showed a new generation what a real man was.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

Sadly, as a symbol of this damn pandemic, it was always going to get him.

As a symbol - perhaps THE symbol - of the struggle against the pandemic, it seems particularly grim that it has got him just when there is light on the proverbial horizon (or is there?).

    RIP.

I know it was inevitable but sad none the less - I'm sure he has had a good life - But the last 12 months, quite rightly, have turned him into a national treasure - So glad he got his knighthood and met the Queen before it was to late

My daughter just told me - She got a news flash and glad to see that it means something to the younger generation as well

Not many make a 100 at Lords or in life but what a gentleman and what a great innings - RIP Sir Tom

Part of me thinks we should either have a Thursday 8pm round of applause, on our door steps, for him this week or on the day of his funeral

Sad - the world needs more Captain Toms not less. I hope his family take solace at a sad time in what a great man he was.

Hope he didn’t catch it on the Xmas Barbados trip. That would be very unlucky. Was a great inspiration last summer. RIP.

Some time ago I listened to a radio chat show with him as the guest ..........he was witty and interesting and ,of course, modest.
He was also surprisingly "with it " for one so old .
Really splendid fellow and a true Icon .
    God bless him.
