Again, the order of list denotes only alphabetic favourability ...

Allparts - the UK arm of the mighty US-based Allparts.  Check stock levels when ordering if you need it quickly.

Axesrus - these guys have most guitar bits and will get it to you very quickly.

Axetec - home of Iron Gear pickups and a lot more.

David Dyke - the *famous* David Dyke.

Simnett Guitars - more tools than guitar parts.

SmallWonder - you want inlays?  These guys have all the inlays you're going to need.

StewMac - they might be US-based, but your order arrives within 48hours.  Remember to add custom charges.

ToneTech - timber & tools primarily.

    WDMusic - the UK arm

A little subsection for the UK pickup makers

Oil City - you want a pickup?  Talk to Ash!

    Bareknuckle

    Bulldog

    Catswhisker

    Mojo

    Wizard

    Other useful ones to know

North West Guitars - Their necks are really good quality and they do custom ones too (with an 8 week lead time). Generally good on parts, quick delivery and also do Nitro-in-a-can

Manchester Guitar Tech - Another great place for Nitro-in-a-can and other things too. Has what is the happy cheesiest logo in guitardom.

Dangleberry Music - Another general supplier. Their Dr Parts necks are decent for the price and are usually suitable for the chap(ess) who likes a good handful

Axecaster - Another general one, but sell Mighty Mite necks

GuitarBuild - Make very nice guitar bodies to order. Choice of woods and various price points.

WooWoo2 - GuitarBuild selling on Ebay. Cheaper than direct from their web site, but there is what there is.

BooBooGuitars - Seem to sell GuitarBuild's rejects cheap on Ebay. Again these are decent but generally need more finishing and some drilling

Janika - Another Ebay seller a good place to get a cheap, pre-finished body

Partscaster - Ebay shop - some nice pre-finished bodies

  • Good suppliers of wood for acoustic/classical guitars and other instruments:

David Dyke has already been covered so I will ignore that one.

Touchstone Tonewoods - Based in Reigate, Surrey - Wood and tools for all kinds of instruments, they are the sister company to stentor (the budget bowed stringed instrument make) http://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.uk/

Guitar Tonewoods 4 Luthiers - Based somewhere in the UK - Don't be put off by the name they stock some really fine quality guitar wood and also some really unusual wood you don't often see, they are a good company to deal with http://www.guitartonewoods4luthiers.co.uk/

Madinter - Based in Spain - These are the real deal, a very big and professional musical instrument wood importer and exporter with direct links to the lumber trade. These guys sell stuff to a lot of professional instrument builders, they are very good value especially when you buy in bulk. The wood is very fine quality and supplied very thick compared with other suppliers. This is my prefered supplier of wood for musical instruments http://www.madinter.com/

Thanks for the rec.  I've never used them, but am on their mailing list, so am often tempted!

  • They are very good! buy a load of 3rd grade ebony fingerboards, they are cheap and lovely! give it 20 years and you won't be able to get ebony anymore, either that or it will be insanely expensive.

  • Yep and that is a massive chunk of fingerboard! over 10mm thick usually! if you are very good with a band saw you can get two fingerboards out of one blank.

Go on give us a clue. What the Spanish for wood??

Edit, now I see the language bar at the top all is good. It didn't appear when clicking your link, but clicking in their logo top left reloaded the page and it was there.
