My very first fret work :)

What's Hot
Hi

I have finally started to install frets on the neck I had previously done inlays , new binding and radiused fingerboard .

The fretting work itself isn't to bad , but I have decided to do Semi-Hemispherical ends .

I knew it is going to take a while , but bloody hell , a first one took me around 30 minutes !

As I was installing more of them , my technic improved slightly , though still a one fret takes just over 20 minutes .

I have only done 7 today and will continue tomorrow , but generally I am happy with it so far and happy that I made a right decision to do it myself :)

Once I have installed all of the frets I'll likely need to face the offset from the sides , but at the moment , it  doesn't look too bad  .

Kinda knew I wasn't going to do any more fret work in near future , so thought it would be a good try lol.
I have ordered a bit more wire just in case , but so far so good .
I wonder if luthiers out there still do that sort of fretting completely by hand ?
If so , I feel sorry for them :) as they are not really making money , compare to how much time it takes .

A labour of love.   There is value in effort itself!    Great work.

    Wow!

Thats pretty impressive work there.  As a first fret job, it’s *very* impressive!
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

I am using Bahco Swiss file , but obviously followed by different grades of sandpaper before I whack the fret in

    This one
