I’ve got a lovely Tokai Les Paul which I’ve had for ages. Just wondering how to discern which model it is, age and value, they seem to have almost endless variations...any advice welcomed? Serial number is 0305959

    I'd suggest the tokai forum.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

It is. It’s just like a better version of the Gibson forum, with an ever so slightly thicker skin
I'm always looking for interesting USA Hamers for sale.

At the moment I'm looking for:
    * Hamer Watson, SS2, Vintage S, T62.
    * Music Man Luke 1, Luke II

    Please drop me a message.

Throw in a new set of strings and knock 10% off whatever you value it at.

    So it’s a 1980 or a 2003?

Most likely a 2003 model. If you go on the Tokai registry there are brochures from various years with accompanying specs that you can match to yours.

Hey thanks, I’ve just posted some pics in the top post...
    So maybe a 2003 LS65?

From the serial number, the dimple in the headstock & the 2 screw TRC, it looks like 2003 and made in Japan for export.
Usually there would be 'Made in Japan' or 'Made in Korea' printed under the clear coat on the back of the headstock, but not all guitars have this.
Without checking in the pickup cavities for model details & checking the code & info on the pots, it's hard to be more specific, sorry.
Meant to say, I'd guess at an LS70/75 and it's a very nice looking guitar  ;)

+1 on comments by @Kittyfrisk . The two screw truss cover suggests MIJ and the dimple indicates that it is anLS import for the UK. LS75 would be my best guess at this stage. In terms of price, probably around £600, I think.

LS75 most likely superceded LS65 by 2003 so I'd go with the guys above. That's a beautiful top, I much prefer it to the flame. Violin burst is lovely too. I'd go with a comfortable £600 at today's rates too. Nice man!

For that price they are such good value, this is as good as any Gibbo I’ve played..
