Flex your flex cable management

I have strayed from the true path of 9v centre negative pedals and now have a pedal with 12v centre positive on my hands. I have been thinking of ways of making sure that next time I move everything around I don't confuse one black flex cable with another and do something dear a mischief. What approaches does everyone here use for telling one flex cable from another?

Loads of options - stickers/labels on ebay, or look at the cable identification section of Studiospares - where you can get all sorts of cable labels. Cover in transparent heatshrink for a pro look and durability.

My centre positive pedals obviously need a reverse polarity adaptor, which have red connector tips so they’re easily identifiable

I tend to use a Dymo label on the PSU outputs and a different coloured plug at the pedal end for centre positive pedals.

You can use coloured cable ties - I put yellow ones on a 12V one I had.

I also put a small sticker with "12V" in red on it above the PSU & perdal power sockets.

I recommend creating a schematic of your effects circuit power/signal connections; it helps keep things organised, improves system design and troubleshoots problems.

I use dayglo stick on labels, having once fed 24v into pedal requiring 9v with predictable results ...
