Converting Guitar/amp knobs into door handles

I'm amount to redecorate my man cave.
I have lots of draws and I'd like to replace the draw knobs with guitar and/or Marshall amp knobs.
Any ideas on how to secure them as they don't have a screw thread.

This sounds interesting. How many Knobs are going to be in this draw, and what's the entry fee/ticket price please?

I should do something similar as I have drawers full of the things ;)

Please don't tell me you brought your draws from Ikea, as that'll just push me over the edge.

The obvious answer is glue, although it would need to be really strong stuff like epoxy. And you’d need some way of spacing the knobs away from the drawer or it’s be hard to grip. You could rig up something with a bolt through the drawer front, then cross drill the bolt shank and put pins in to hold the knobs in place.

Marshall knobs would be a bit small to get a grip on though? Gibson speed knobs might work better I guess.

The draws have tiny knobs on them at the moment so guitar/Amp knobs will give better grip anyway.
They are small draws that fit into the IKEA cube shelf system.

    Epoxy and double ended screws.

Not much gluing area for drippy stuff on most knobs, but Sugru might work. Would be an inexpensive experiment, anyway.

Get some threaded bar and matching nuts from a DIY supplier.   Cut threaded bar into appropriate lengths, such that it can be inserted/glued into the hole in the knob and will go through the drawer front and then held in with a nut/washer.  Simples.  Probably.

But the knobs are not threaded, they are designed to go on pots

Think he means glue the knob onto the threaded bar. Then put the threaded bar (studding) through the hole in the drawer and secure with nuts.

What are you going to grip to open the drawer?  Most drawer knobs have a 'thinner bit' close to the drawer to give the user a grip!

    Yup.  That’s what I meant.

Current knobs are just a thin metal shaft about as thick as a pencil. Now that does sound dodgy. So anything bigger is going to be an improvement, so she said.

You’d be surprised - Marshall knobs are purposely designed to have almost no grip when you pull outwards. Or at least, they might as well be because they certainly achieve it.

Likewise Strat knobs, as anyone who has a Strat with push-pull pots will know...

Your best bet is Tele knobs, but that will start to get expensive if there are a lot of drawers.

Very expensive way of doing it but you could drill a pot hole and assemble the knob to the pot as normal...just buy 28 pots for decorating purposes  =)

Could you supply a pre-wired harness for a chest of drawers?
