Depending on your budget and what kind of string spacing your guitar has, I'd be more inclined to go for a Tele style pickup in a HB route.

For £115 there's this from Oil City Pickups, same construction as a Tele pickup but in a HB route.

I'm not sure. From memory a Tele bridge pickup is about the same width as a Strat pickup but slightly wider from 'E' to 'e', so maybe it would fit, but with the pole spacing 'off' as you suggest. The Tele mounting screws are arranged differently so shouldn't present to much problem. Either way, I'd probably make life easy for myself and buy one of these to try, at least initially:
