My daughter handed me an envelope on my birthday........I was only half-concentrating as my other daughter was trying to hand me a present at the same time
The envelope was obviously my card but it was a very regular and comfortable size.
I wanted to sound curious and appreciative to heighten the suspense and make her feel good ,flipping it through my hand but still not truly focused,
" Ooh....is it a record token ? " I said inquisitively ,
The whole family ,Spouse and sons looked at me as if I had three heads .

Who remembers those ? or that place called Woolworths where you and all your mates got caught nicking every saturday ?
I caught myself talking to a friendly Pheasant like Johnny Morris the other day .......Jeez, but wasn't Animal Magic great and wasn't the theme tune great too ?

I’m 33 in 2 months but I reckon I’m an old soul. 

I used the term ‘old hat’ for the first time the other day. 

It just slipped out. 

I realised half the people in the office must think I’m well old. Theyre all 18-19, and even my managers are several years younger than me.. but I’m listening to Nu metal bands, whose albums still seem fresh to me, but were released the same years as when these kids were born.. and yet I remember exactly where I bought it and what I did when I got home with the CD.

That actually threw me when I realised that.

I get HMV vouchers to pay for those odd 12” discs if plastic , tbh everyone wins, the missus and the kids have no stress and as I’ve stopped drinking it saves them buying me JD

What's amusing is kids would probably find iTunes tokens even more old hat. At least records are retro cool.
