Does anything else out there do the 'pattern trem' from the Mobius?

I literally use my Mobius for just the pattern trem. Is there anything else out there (apart from HX Stomp and the like) that I could replace it with????

Bye!

    Boss slicer?
If the Boss Slicer does it it might also be on the Boss MD200.

I think the Empress may do it or something similar.

There is a a Malekko Goatkeeper which a) isn't cheap and b) might not be possible to get hold of but is c) based on the Lightfoot Labs Goatkeeper which I understand is the daddy of the pattern trems. Might turn one up somewhere I guess.

Joes pedals has both the Malekko goatkeeper and the Subdecay tremcoder, or usually does. If you like tap tempo, you might find the tap implementation on the Subdecay too much of a pain to work with. The Malekko allows an external tap switch.

Showing the Malekko for @£209 but as out of stock. And the Tremcoder £189 out of stock.

  • I was really hoping that the GATED pattern mode on my DD500 would give me a similar sound, but unfortunately it doesn't. :(

The Boss Slicer is too big for what I want really. The MD200 could be a good shout.

The Malekko and Tremcoder are AWOL, and I don't think Empress do anything that does that exact sound.

Not sure about the TC Pipeline. I would expect not.

ZVEX Seq Trem is what these are all based on, no????

The empress term does do predefined patterns. Not sure if that’s what the mobius does, but it is a cool effect.

I’d read that the Goatkeeper was the original and that came out in 2007; however  looks like the ZVex Seek was 2006 so that seems to have been first. Seems an incredibly fiddly pedal to use although maybe that’s the fun of it.

This is the sound I get with the Mobius:

It's just ebow and Mobius in this clip. I usually put some spatial effects *before* the Mobius, to get these huge gated washes.

The pattern is quite distinctive. Not just any "hummingbird" style trem will do it I don't think.

Not sure if it will have the fine adjustments you want, but this is what made me think the TC Pipeline might do something similar ...

I think in theory you can do it with the Sonuus Voluum via the app although it seems a bit short of anyone demoing that kind of thing. You’d also have to buy into an, err, unusual pedal. But it looks like you can do it on the tc anyway.

The slicer, boss md500 (not sure about the 200) both do that sound.
The line 6 m series do it too as does the helix.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
