As per the title, 

Where would you recommend putting this pedal in the chain?

After chorus would be my suggestion. Run your chorus in to it in stereo, detune by -7 on one side and +7 on the other, add some reverb and delay after and you will get close to the la session clean sound.

Modulation > Delay > Reverb

For this particular type of modulation, that is. And in post, so FX loop, or with a lineout fed into it.

This effect/ algorithm is really designed for a WDW setup going into stereo Delay and reverb.

As soon as it gets summed to mono, you really loose the benefit of it IMO.
