TV audio and music streaming kit

I'm after an idea of what I'd need to get some nice audio kit for my main living room, that could also provide an audio improvement for my TV. By nice, I mean it needs to add bass and volume to fill the room but I'm not worried about super hi-fi spec or prices.

I guess an amp that has the required input for my TV, and either can receive streamed audio or a separate unit for that. Plus, some decent speakers on stands.

I could buy used gear to keep costs down. I don't want anything bulky, I like a minimalist setup.

Size matters! I have a Samsung surround system with four 2” speakers and a sub, although the sound from the speakers is far superior to the tv it’s still not as good as my old tv plugged into a stereo amp and a couple of 6” eminence speakers! If your tv has hdmi go to curry’s when the sale is on and get a demo

It might actually be worth going for a Slimline AV receiver instead of a Hifi amp. That way you can get stuff like Hdmi arc and keep all your AV inputs connected to the same box.

Arc is useful because you can then control volume with your TV remotes.

OK, so there are all-in-one solutions to this, which ticks the box for minimalism. But I should have put a budget in my post. £1000 is hefty.
I don't need top notch, I tend not to be an audiophile trying to hear the subtleties of the recording studio acoustics. But, if that's the price I need to pay, I'll have to save. And hide the bank statement from the wife.

Okaeedokee, nowt wrong with the Denon although streaming will be via Bluetooth I think..

via Bluetooth makes sense in my head, but is there another option? I assume the amp/receiver can be Wi-Fi enabled itself to stream directly? That would be great if possible in budget (<£500)

That's the same receiver, but a different set of speakers instead of the Denon package. Right? I would take your word for it that it's worthwhile to buy separately.

Yep, Denon speakers are weakest link, Q Acoustics, Wharfedale 220 or Dali Spektors will serve you much better.

Is that an amp as well? Or do I need that as well as the Denon system?
Would the MCR511 be suitable - I think it just doesn't have a CD player which suits me

Another slightly more left field option for the streamer is to get a Google TV and do the music streaming through that via the TV. You can get Spotify and Apple Music on it. The only downside is your TV has to be on while streaming.

And my TV speakers aren't particularly good either. We have a Chromecast which is similar to what you're suggesting, I think.

I'm going to call HyperFi shortly and ask about that Marantz unit.

It comes in white which will please the wife. The Q Acoustic speakers are available in white too, as are the Dali Spektor 1.

That was my next suggestion and what I had before I moved to Ruark (to which I have 3 of now) , great system only niggle was no DAB.
