Marshall & BMW Motorrad?

Don't know if this has been mentioned, had a quick look and didn't see anything, but BMW Motorrad and Marshall are partnering up somehow?

Apparently it's a strategic partnership, whatever one of those is, but seems a bit bizarre to me.  I will await more news as it comes, apparently on the 29th.  Might be interesting, might not.

I suppose it's a bit like when Topshop et al do those "Topshop X Stranger Things" collaborations which is essentially a case of selling their existing products but with a different logo on the front, which has some kind of cultural link to their intended customers

Motorbikes and rock music go together, so BMW just make a motorbike and say it's different and new because it has Marshall written on the side

Reading between the lines I think it's going to be some kind of Marshall audio system that will be fitted to BMWs bikes.

Personally I wouldn't let Marshall near anything more complicated than a juicer.  

Hopefully BMW won't suddenly become poorly designed and break down a lot.

BMW have a habit of really fucking up the 3rd party supplier stuff.
For example, the audio system/bluetooth modules in BMW R1200RT are Alpine units.

It is a complete nightmare to negotiate because BMW contract Alpine to do a job and they do it, but only as much as the contract demands.
The issue with that unit is low audio quality over bluetooth.
Nothing can be done because the unit never gets updated.

Whenever they get someone else to do a thing for them it always seems to go badly.
When they can do it themselves things seem to be more responsive.

Anyone who rides a BMW GS will have a PRS, ok they might have a marshall - but not a modern one.

Marshall should probably concentrate on making decent amps. 

Very rarely do they release anything particularly interesting or juicy nowadays. Their R&D seems to be pretty behind what a lot of other companies are producing.

So it turns out BMW have made a couple of motorcycles with speakers on them which say Marshall so you can annoy everyone with loud music as you ride along.

There's also 10" speakers in the panniers - which makes having panniers a pointless exercise.

I can't see them selling well.....

My neighbour fitted outriggers to his bike so he can blast AC/DC as he rides along, which is completely pointless as you can hear bugger all over the din of the V twin. 

I reckon a few brain dead types will option them and then they’ll disappear into obscurity - I hope they do anyway!

I’ve been riding motorcycles for over 40 years. Speakers and music on a bike is not only f@ckin pointless it negates the whole point of riding a bike. If you need to listen to music on your bike you need to stick to a car ffs.
