  • Very nice. It even has nibs which, AFAIK Gibsons do not anymore!

Apart from Parcel Force being its usual inefficient self, the whole transaction was painless and, in my view, a great deal.

As these aren't officially exported to the UK, the closest I can get to an official price is in AUD, which comes out at around £2650.00 and this worked out at far less.    I saw one in Spain which, by the time you added on the VAT, would still have costs far more than this.

I think that there is a lot to be said for buying from Japan if you deal with a proper shop and buy wisely.  I would certainly do it again and am pondering a 335.

Knew it was a Tokai as soon as I scrolled down to the second picture. :)

I've often contemplated getting one of these as an affordable LP Custom alternative, if only they had a solution to the weight problem, they've got everything else sussed!

Barely heavier than the Gibson next to it and lighter than the two maple topped Tokais.
bathroom scales say 4 kilos and a fraction.

Oh no, I wasn't suggesting Tokais are particularly heavy!  Just that they're not any lighter than Gibson LPs... which are too heavy, for me.  That's just my personal issue, it looks a great guitar and I've owned some really nice Tokais in the past.  Still got one, but it's an SG.

There's an SG for sale where I bought the first two Tokai LPs and I have to say that I am extremely tempted.

Take your point about the weight although I don't mind at the moment, being young and fit (and nearly 69...), even the LP Special weighs over eight pounds
