Olympic Cyclists' bits

What's Hot
The BBC keeps showing an image of the GB Olympic Cyclists.
It's just a bit porny.
The costumes have a black outline sewn on. The purpose appears to be highlighting the genitals of the team.
Two of the riders have very clearly visible gentleman's components.
Why the design and why are the Beeb showing this?

All worthwhile cycling apparel has padding where the cyclist will be in contact with the bicycle saddle. This padding goes where it is needed … for men, women and the undecided.

Two of the riders have very clearly visible gentleman's components.
I'm glad to hear this. On balance, the alternative would be more disturbing.

Why are the Beeb showing this?
IMO, it is a stab at sexual equality in sports coverage. In the past, female sports tunics have been known to ride up and make obvious the wearers' genitalia.

Certainly nothing to be hung up about.

The padded shorts thing has always mystified me, why not just put a padded seat on the bike?

It's like putting a metal chair in your car and strapping a cushion to your arse to drive it.

    Thick twats.

Try it and feel the difference.

The main benefit is that the padding in the shorts doesn’t move against the skin. Cycling chafing is very painful. It’s not just about the padding itself.

The pad is there to wick away sweat and prevent chafing between the shorts and skin. Trust me you don’t want to ride a padded saddle and regular shorts. And if you don’t trust me and try it anyway don’t say that you weren’t warned

  • @p90fool usually harder, thinner seats are more comfy than big sofas!

I know, I'm a keen cyclist myself and was being facetious.

I still don't like too much shorts padding though, it can sometimes have the effect of trying to spread your pelvis and cause a deep ache in your bones, which took me a long time to figure out.

Did I see that a team in the handball event got fined for wearing shorts instead of bikini bottoms? Is Goldilocks in charge of shorts length?

The comfiest saddles are the one's with no padding in at all. I bought loads of saddles (some expensive) to try and get the right saddle. Eventually I found one that was great. It was recommended to me by a semi pro cyclist and is called a Charge Spoon. It was about ~£25-30 and by far the cheapest of the lot I'd tried. I promptly replace all the saddles on my other bikes with the same and sold all the others. If you have a bike then just get one. If you don't agree it's great you've just wasted £25 minus what you can sell it for. Had mine for years and they still look new.

I had one on my bike as a kid and people used to say how the hell can you ride a bike sitting on a saddle like that. Great saddles but unfortunately now really expensive. You need a hard saddle with no padding. Padding in a saddle is a big NO. Padding in the shorts but not too much.

In Beach Volleyball at least there used to be a rule on the *maximum* size of the costumes.

I have quite a few friends who are serious "proper" volleyballers and they all refused to take the beach event seriously on the basis that the governing body was deliberately setting it out to be sold on the basis of the amount of flesh on show rather than the sport.
