Ibanez RG premium tropical sea floor

Hi, did anyone on here ever get a 2020 ibanez RG premium with the tropical sea floor finish and fixed bridge? I search for them periodically but seem quite rare. There's a couple on reverb but are overseas.

Just wondered what they were like to play. Look stunning.

I haven’t tried that one but I have its close and cheaper cousins:

I have the one above both in fixed and edge tremolo version - that’s how much I like them, only guitar I ever had a duplicate of.

The two I have sound immense, much better than most RGs I’ve had, something about the wood and hardware combination really works.

They have a maple cap under the poplar burl veneer, which is somehow mentioned nowhere in the specs.
The finish on mine is not flawless but I really like the fact it’s thin and matte, much better than the the usual plastic gloop. Fretwork is second to none. The rolled fingerboard edges look a bit messy close up ( ala Gibson Custom shop ) but they feel great.

The fusion edge pickups are awesome IMO
but they’re not really for clean tones.

My only gripe is the necks are VERY thin, like
18mm at the nut, which can give me fatigue /
pain depending on what I’m practicing.

I would rename that finish kebab and pavement.

OTOH, I like the egg custard blonde finish on Fender Broadcasters. What do I know?

My recollection of those waffur theen Ibanez necks with huge frets is that they are like a scalloped Stratocaster only less comfortable. If that makes any sense.
    Be seeing you.

Seems like the more expensive the RG the thinner the necks get, this is quite annoying. Who wants a 17mm neck honestly.

Haha fair enough :) I wish they’d offer a bit more variation than thin or ridiculously thin.

That finish should be called 'Naan at the beach'.

Three of them on Reverb if you can live with the Vat and Import Duty from the EU and when you figure that all in you could probably get a used J Custom in the UK for the same price.
