"Stop!, my ass is on fire!" and the classic "Bitch whore bukkake Nuns III"
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.
Also chips are "Plant-based" no matter how you cook them.

I thought bukkake nuns lost direction in volume 3, the first 2 were classics for sure !

    The Dark Tower  5/10

Very disappointing. 7 books worth of epic material condensed into 1 hour and 30 minutes. I know that you can never get everything into a movie but with this film its like they didn't even try. The right way to have gone about it would have been 3 movies of at least a couple of hours long.

And Roland as black guy just doesn't work. Main characters missing, poor acting, huge chunks of story line missing.
Watched it with the wife, she has never read the books and knew pretty much nothing about the story and even she said it was like there was loads missing.

I guess the only redeeming feature was that some of the cgi looked pretty good and it had Katheryn Winnick in it.

@mikeyrob73 Do yourself a favour and don't watch it mate, it will just make you feel sad for what might have been! I completely agree, Elba was the wrong choice - And completely cutting out Eddie, Susanah and Oy (let alone all the others) was just stupidity.

    if there is no Oy im not watching, and how can they possibly make it without Eddie or Susanah? the books are epic and need someone to take hold of them, they could make a great series, there is too much for just a couple of films @nick79 ;

and this is what Roland should look like NOT Edris Elba

I agree mate. Give it the Game of Thrones treatment - big budget, good writers and 8 seasons. That would do it.

Went to see The Snowman on Friday. Really disappointing. You would've thought that cast and production team could've made a better job of it...

  • Wish I had read your comment @ewal    I went along tonight and nearly walked out. They must have chopped loads from the film it was so disjointed. At times I giggling as it was so bad and I didn't give a sh1t about a single character.

    Really poor

Blade Runner...visually stunning, kind of reminded me of kubrick’s cinematography, particularly 2001. Will need a second viewing to fully process it.

The reviews of The Snowman have been so universally damning I have a perverse desire to go and see it.

been thinking a lot about german history of the 1960s to 1990s. berlin wall, baader meinhof, stasi, so watched two new and rewatched one.

Marianne and Juliane 1981 about two sisters, one of whom is a sort of hybrid of various female terrorists of the 1960/70s. pretty good, but v slow. talky and stagey in a good way. probably a theatre thing adapted for film, as whole thing could happen in one room really. but interesting to see from the family's perspective, how they cope with a 'terrorist' in the family. rare insight.

Barbara 2012 bit like 'the lives of others'. stasi is watching you. set in mid 1980s east germany. lush photography and great atmosphere, but drags a bit. about a female doctor trying to get out to a husband who has already fled to the west. it's a simple story stretched out to overlong really. but claustrophobic feel makes up for that.

The Legend of Rita 2000 about a female terrorist (again a hybrid of known people) in 1970s germany, who skips west to east with govt support. about how she lives with new identity there. until the wall comes down and she has to fend for herself. gives you a real feel for how once you are into that sort of thing you are basically on the run for life, even if history and your feelings about the whole thing change. best of the three i think, but all fascinating in different ways.

all german language with english subtitles. some on youtube.

  • "Jungle" with Daniel Radcliff.

Based on true events - three guys in search for mystic lost tribe in Amazon jungle.
Great shots, well acted - nothing inventive though. Good for Sunday afternoon  (which it was).

    6/10.
