    Nocturnal Animals

A film directed by a fashion designer?  I thought it would be stylish but pretentious and I wouldn't like it.  But it's actually very good.

  • Paddington 2. What a brilliant film. Blubbed my eyes out at the end, fucking softy. I loved it.

    Coco by Disney/Pixar.
Really lovely film about some of the usual follow your heart and family matters most themes. About a boy who wants to be a guitarist, set against a background of Mexico and their Day of the Dead rituals.

Brawl in Cell Block 99 - crunchy as fuck. Cracking turn from Vince Vaughan in a soon to be grindhouse classic.

  • Finally got around to watch 'Dunkirk' last night. Some amazing scenes, especially the ones including Spitfires. Whole movie was touching but full of pathos and had long. I did like it though.

    7/10

  • Re watched The Force Awakens.

Still feels a bit bit like Ford and Fisher we’re making a different film to the rest of them. Lots of little inconsistencies throughout the film, tiny things that if you stopped and thought about them would seem silly ( although that’s a feature of the original trilogy ). However, it’s a good looking, well paced film that carries you along ( well, apart from the what’s the point of stormtrooper armour and why can’t Harrison Ford act anymore type moments) . I think Rey and Finn have a good relationship and are appealing characters.

50 First Dates meets Memento with entirely predictable results. 3/11.

Watched that recently on Prime too, quite a curious film. The real life interviews at the end were interesting.

Yeah that was a bonus. I love a good old subtitled film too. It adds to the atmosphere for me.

Black Mass with Johnny Depp. Not quite in the same league as similar films like Goodfellas and Casino but very good.

Sorry.... Just watched The Last Jedi and really loved it... I'm not sure objectively I can say it was a good movie because I love Star Wars but...  It was awesome.

Going to see it tomorrow night with my brother and all our kids from 9-12.  Kids are mildly excited, I was saying to my daughter and niece that its 1 more sleep and more exciting than May the 4th. My bemused niece said "My dad keeps singing its beginning to look a lot like STAR WARS!!" at the top of his voice.

I imagine they think we are very cool...

All 3 Ip Man films are quite good.

Sat with my 12 year old daughter this afternoon and watched Once Upon A Time In The West, explaining the rules of westerns as we went.  She thought it was hilariously shit, bloody philistine.

The Green Hell - documentary about the history of the Nürburgring. Very watchable and fascinating. Unfortunately, as good as it was, it somehow feels as if it could have been so much better. Good but not great.
