Lee Sklar would be a good replacement.
RIP Dusty. One of rock's greats,

    Very sad news.
I just found that show (Rockpalast) and have had to stop what I am doing to watch the whole thing.

Like many not a ZZ Top super fan, but always one of those bands that I enjoyed listening to. Huge, huge sound for a trio and that owed a lot to the bass. Fab vocals too.  Sad to hear the news. RIP.

RIP Dusty. Saw them in 91 headlining Milton Keynes Bowl and again in Hammersmith about 10 years ago. Love the band, their originality, their stage presence and the fact they stuck together longer than any other band I can think of. 52 years .... U2 have another 7 years to go to match it.

This one hurts. Had a chance to see them once a long
time ago and just thought “next time”. Never managed to line it up again…

Dusty made keyboards as cool as the bass itself. Love “Eliminator” - a truly great record. Showed they could do more than just straight-up Texas blues.

    RIP Dusty!

Everyone watch the Rockpalast gig from 80/81. Amazing.

ZZ Top were always a bit of a joke band to me growing up - the fluffy guitars, spinning round and all that, but Guitar Hero introduced me to La Grange, and from there I discovered some more of their music, and realised that they weren't a cheesy 80s band but a proper rock and roll outfit.

I then saw Billy Gibbons acting in Bones, and he was great. There's a documentary on Netflix about them, called The Little Old Band from Texas, and they all come across as decent, nice, really hard working people.

    RIP Dusty.

Billy Gibbons expressed it best, thanking Dusty for putting the bottom in the Top.
    Be seeing you.

I was at that show - I'll never forget the 'scrapyard' section of the show. Or Thunder playing earlier.

    Phenomenal band, phenomenal sound.

That news broke very quickly, I guess they must have known for some time that this was coming - otherwise it could seem a bit insensitive.

    Gutted. Absolutely gutted.
Saw him play a warm up gig for Wembley at Wolverhampton Civic hall a few years ago and the bass nearly blew my eardrums out
    2009?
I took my son to that show. His first proper gig.
    Superb live show.

Sad day. I'm thankful I managed to see them in person, if only the once.
    Rest in peace Dusty.

I was at The Bowl - I remember it being very hot and having to walk a long way from the car more than anything. I have no memory of Thunder or Little Angels at all although I do just about remember The Law and Brian Adams. I think ZZ Top had that conveyor belt thing happening which seemed cool.

Id just like to point out that, despite all the video and DNA evidence, it genuinely wasn't me, your Honour  !

Rockpalast have (re)uploaded the entire 1980 Rockpalast show. I suggest putting on the headphones. turning them up real loud, and checking out the first 3 songs. Some of their best. Great vocals from Dusty too.
