Joe Walsh - Life's between Good: that little triads section ?

What's Hot

I've never been able to get this section of the song to sound right. Have pored over various Youtube videos and lessons on the song in the past, but they never sound exactly right, The guy playing in the Peach / Joe Walsh inspired  demo below is the closest I've heard yet.

A decent guitarist would probably laugh at such a request, but I'm far from being in that bracket..so go easy on me ..please :)

Can anybody tell me what chords - or even better still, notes - the chap plays in the 10 second clip from 5:29 to 5:39 in this video please ?

  • It's just F C F x 2 followed by Am G Am x 2

    Voicings could be:
    x-x10-10-10-x   x-x10-9-8-x   x-x7-5-6-x
    then
    x-x10-9-10-x   x-x9-7-8-x   x-x7-5-5-x

Thanks DK. The chords there work alright, but the voicing (as I now know the term is) is different than what is the guy is using, and the sound is subtly different.

Would you have any idea what the equivalent chords / notes would be down at the position(s) the guy in the video uses ?

    he’s doing:

    xxx565
    xxx553
    xx3211

    and

    xx7555
    xx5433
    xx2210
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

Forgive me for being a pain in the @ss on this one Viz - but is that second triad right - the xxx553 ?

It sounds off compared to the others, and when you look closely at your man's fingers at the 5:30 mark, I cant really see how he would be able to play those notes from that position  ?

Having had a look at the notes - is it possible that the first part is this instead:

    xxx565
    xxx555
    xx3211

then the rest as before ?

Sorry that middle one is xx555x. I was doing a different voicing of the same chord because my mind’s ear was somehow filling in the top G (it’s in the original).

I find it surprisingly easy to mess up the order of the triads.
Definitely one of those riffs you have to think about as you play it.

The top one of those is a great version - almost the definitive version I'd say

    Joe's a funny guy too :)
