SOLD

For sale is my very pleasant and very playable Stanford Crossroads 35. Made under Maybach's supervision, who now own the Stanford name apparently, in China and their input shows, really well put together and plays great, very similar to a Chinese Eastman 335 I had a while back and gives my MIJ Tokai a bloody good run for its money.

I have not had it long at all and is only available now as something I have been lusting after for a long while has become available so something has to go.

I am its 1st owner and it is in fabulous condition, plays as well as any of the 335's I have had in my life and the pickups are better than I expected, thought I would have to change them out but no need to. Lovely hard case included.

Don't be put off by the country of origin, some fine guitars are being made in China lately.

collection from either Dunstable or Chesham. happy for you to arrange your own courier at your level of cover and risk, it will be extremely well packaged in a proper guitar box

  • Interesting, never heard of this brand before! Lovely looking finish. Looks eerily similar to the Eastman T59/v but without the relicing.

Their official website blurb is a tad optimistic though:

"Larry Carlton, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Alvin Lee, to name just a few famous names, loved and play this icon even today in their concerts."

I don't remember seeing any of those guys playing a Stanford, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention!
    ;)

    GLWTS!

Yes, that made me smile, poorly worded and a well outdated statement.  They should let the guitars do the talking, their website is awful.

  • ^^^I think lack of postage is probably a stumbling block. The 8.5 hour round trip is somewhat off-putting for me!

  • Does this have a nitro finish?
I've only seen the worn versions which are darker and less glossy.

My guess is not, although their website suggests it is ( Stanford Crossroad Thinline 35 Vintage Blonde - Stanford Guitars (stanford-guitars.com  )

At best I recon its got a thin blow over of some sort of nitro, regardless of finish it is fine resonant guitar.

    cheers

Nut width?  Neck - fat, thin?

    Really quite interested

Not home at the moment, but I am pretty sure the nut is 43mm. The neck is close to my '81 Tokai 335, not particularly chunky and certainly not thin, always hard to describe neck shapes :) well for me it is.

will update when I get home and check it .
