    PRS Swamp Ash Studio 2011

    A rather rare beast, this one - not to be confused with the Swamp Ash Special.  These were available for a very short time.  As per PRS' press release:

    "Like the acclaimed Studio model, the Swamp Ash Studio is an updated take on a traditional single-single-hum guitar with PRS’s proprietary 57/07 Narrowfield® pickups in the middle and bass positions in conjunction with a 57/08 humbucking bridge pickup. This pickup combination in conjunction with a 5-way blade pickup selector makes this guitar extremely versatile. The addition here of the swamp ash body helps provide clear bell-like highs, pronounced mids, and strong lows, and the bolt-on figured maple neck is lightly sealed for a natural, comfortable feel. The Stripped 58 and Swamp Ash Studio Limited Edition models will not be limited to a specific quantity, but to a limited order window (ending October 14)."

    It has a Pattern Regular neck which is slimmer than I like but, more than anything, I've other similar guitars ahead of it.  In excellent condition with some blemishes around the edge which I understand are lacquer faults rather than dings but barely noticeable.

    Comes with original hard case, tags and case candy.

    £2,000.

    Patrick James Eggle Macon Junior

    Mojo pickups Humbucker and P90 combo.  Mahogany neck and body.  Rosewood fretboard.

    The neck is pretty chunky but not as big as, say, a Nik Huber Krautster II (loved it but the neck was just a little too big).  The neck was originally an open pore acrylic finish but I felt it became a bit sticky, so sent it back to PJE to have it stripped and oiled. It feels great.

    Comes with a black G&G Eggle-branded hard case and original spec card.  The bottom end of the case lid has split a tiny bit but it is still 100% secure.

    If I hadn’t have a Macon Single Cut, I’d struggle to let this go. Beautifully resonant, it just has a great vibe to it.

    Collection from CA7 or contact me for shipping. Trades welcome.

    £2,000.

    HJ Williams Aura (custom build)

    Super spec on this and hand built by Haydn Williams of Williams Guitars, a one-man show, who builds these from bare timbers (i.e. not a partscaster!).
    • Birdseye maple neck and fretboard;
    • Alder body with maple cap;
    • Neck profile in the realms of PRS wide-fat;
    • 25" scale length;
    • 22-frets;
    • 10-14" compound radius;
    • Gotoh 510 bridge;
    • Gotoh SG360 locking tuners;
    • Fralin Vintage Hot pickups;
    • 5-way selector;
    • Neck master mini-toggle (switching below);
    • Series/parallel mini-toggle (switching below).
    There's no point pretending otherwise - this was a bit of a vanity project on my part, believing firmly I needed an S-type and that it should be a custom build, as it was bound to be a 'keeper'.  Well, I've learned that no guitar fits that bill for me.  Hence, I enjoy trades!

    This is pretty much immaculate and comes in a Hiscox Lite Flite hard case.

    £1,800 SOLD

    Schecter PT (Pete Townshend) - 1996

    This was a Europe only limited run (the rosewood fretboard being the distinction) from 1996.  Alder body.  Maple thin 'U' neck with rosewood fretboard with jumbo frets.  It is nicely set up, very easy to play, sounds terrific and comes with a Dean gig bag.

    It has had the following upgrades:

    Hand-cut bone nut;
    Genuine Schecter locking tuners;
    Sidewynder pickups (Lancehead 15Ω and Hognose 8Ω);
    500k push-pull pots;
    Switchcraft jack;
    Switchcraft three-way switch;
    Rewired with PRS DGT coil-split.

    It has significant buckle rash on the back, is scuffed lightly with one distinct scratch on the front (the harsh flash makes the scuffing look somewhat worse).  The neck has only very light marks and has a silky/oiled finish.

    Made in China but far outperforms many guitars much more expensive.  I sold this, having owned it before, and bought it back.  In the interim period, I've become much more fond of fatter necks and this is just a touch too thin for me.

    £350.  Due to being a bolt-on neck, this is postable without a case at minimal cost.

  • The Swamp Ash Special is to behold. The burst sits so well with the grains.
    However, as a veteran I could never have a guitar with "SAS" on the headstock.
    I'd be called a 'Walt' for life.
    If I had talent, I'd be talented.
    Red meat and functional mushrooms.
    Persistent and inconsistent guitar player.
    A lefty, hence a fog of permanent frustration

    Not enough guitars, pedals, and cricket bats.

    Thanks, @spark240I’ve a McCarty Trem. In all honesty, I wish it were semi-hollow. Heavy!

    Gibson Memphis 50th Anniversary 1963 ES-335 TD Block VOS

    Taken in trade, with the thought, 'well, I've never had a 335'.  Itch scratched and just not for me.

    In excellent condition with a couple of marks you can see in the headstock shot, just above the nut.  Comes with case, certificate, etc. and the original nylon-saddled bridge (it has an upgrade one which is, I believe, TonePros).

    £3,200.

    They seem to get better and better as time goes on............I'm guessing that by Xmas you will be disposing of the '52 tele and then the '59 Burst around New Year !
    Seriously , what a lovely thing that PRS is..........splendid bit of kit.
