  • Aw man I blame Leo Fender, I came here all ready to type "No U r ALL wrong, Jeff Beck /thread peace!

But you mean Vibrato (lol thanks Leo) ... thinking about it, it's a way of increasing sales of strats and amps...

In which case, I submit Ronny Jordan's Theme From Underworld - it was the best performance in the cinema that night!

Myrrhman by Talk Talk, including tremelo-engaged amp hiss for the first 18 seconds before anything is played.

This man talks the Talk Talk. Anything where Mark Hollis uses tremolo is golden. Also Graham Sutton's use of tremolo in Bark Psychosis' stuff is amazing.

And, yes, @tone1 : Link Wray.

I like tremolo but always found it hard to use in a band context ( can end up just sounding like there’s a fault with the guitar). The only use I had was my attempt at covering Watching the Detectives, such a great song so I’ll happily add that to the nominations.

    Nope, we mean Tremolo ;-)

Tremolo is volume, vibrato is pitch.

  • Might not be a song as such but the soundtrack from Twin Peaks is very effective

  • Blur - Oily Water. Graham Coxon has some kind of trem with a momentary switch and it makes the song.

Have we had A Change is Gonna Come by Otis Redding ( I suspect various murderings of this song by soul covers bands may have put us off) or Guitar Town by Steve Earle yet? Is that a baritone guitar on the Earle track?

I like Otis Redding but would include his cover as one of the various murderings of this great song.

For some reason this came to mind, all 1½ seconds of it! Vernon Reid at 2:07 in.

Great as that is, I think it's a Leslie speaker rather than tremolo

My suggestion - Immigrant Song by Led Zep. The "Come from the land of the ice and snow" bit - effective because it's so brief.
Some of the gear, some idea
