A stunning creation by Mike Baranik, in fabulous condition with its original fitted case. Nicely played in with the only signs of ageing some checking in the tortoiseshell binding. One of the most stunning guitars I have ever played.

The only reason for this sale is that the nut width and the neck width towards the 10th fret are a fraction too much for me. I have stupidly short fingers and can't comfortably wrap my thumb around the 6th string to fret it cleanly. 

I'm in the market for a replacement small-bodied acoustic, a boutique amp with 'chime' such as a Morgan AC, Vox AC, Matchless and also a Neumann studio vocal microphone.

This is genuinely one of the finest sounding guitars I have come across, but as ever I'm intrigued to the guitars you are keeping!

@dangee Mike Baranik does indeed make stellar instruments, not everyone's cuppa and certainly not following in the great Martin tradition. But I love the luthiers that are pushing the boundaries.

@drofluf it would have been out of my price bracket had I not downsized my home....to clarify, I didn't downsize simply to afford the guitar!

@earwighoney this is the prettiest acoustic guitar I have. The keepers are much plainer.

Folks, as a very happy owner of a Baranik Retreux Parlor, I can say that these little guitars are extremely addictive.  The pint-sized format offers not only a level of comfort that larger guitars cannot match, but also a punchy immediacy that is very rewarding.  Even though I have purchased quite a few much larger, more more expensive guitars since I got my Retreux in 2013, I still give it a lot of attention because it is so toneful and so very fun to play.  Whenever people hear it, be they players or not, they always comment on how musical it sounds and how cool it looks.

This particular example is in a different league, however.  Mike pulled out all the stops in terms of aesthetics and tone.  The box is blond on the outside but Braz within, and the fluted soundport is a killer improvement on the standard Retreux format.

I'm confident that whoever scores this beauty will enjoy a truly unique instrument for many long years to come.

@Gassage pets and children are accepted provided they are potty-trained. No Jack Russells though, they're nasty little blighters. Though if one of the children on offer is named Jack Russell, that's OK.

@benm39 tell me about the sadness. I am perpetually sad that evolution didn't give me guitar-playing fingers. I muddle through with most guitars but just an extra mm in width makes a difference - well that's what my fiancee tells me.

That's one of life's great frustrations... I've plenty long fingers though increasingly arthritis in left pinky is starting to render my fingers immobile or painful and it won't be long before the other hand follows suit.  Still I shall likewise muddle on as best can be... and hope you'll do likewise.

Lizst and  I think,  Schumann used to stretch their fingers.  In Schumann's case I think he did some permanent damage,  when he wasn't busy throwing himself into rivers and the like...
