I've done a lot of gigs recently where the promoter has sent a rep. His / her job is to sit between the band and venue in terms of sorting out riders, load in, SC times and set length etc. I didn't even know this was a thing until I asked one guy who was hanging with us in the dressing room what his job was :)
It's kind of handy sometimes but the cost to the the promoter is passed on to us and at £200 a pop not that cheap. Some venues insist on it though apparently.

Promoter reps are pretty standard for bigger promoters, especially ones that cover multiple venues or cities. I don't recall the cost ever being listed on contracts or paperwork though.
