1Q22 FFS Build Something Challenge

Starts Dec 30th, ends on April Fools Day. 

Build from a kit, build from parts, build from scratch but FFS show us what you are up to! 

Any piece of guitar related clobber counts - guitar, bass, pedal, amp - anything that takes your fancy. It would be nice if you were tackling something new to you, but it’s not mandatory. 

What’s a build thread? A thread that hopefully discusses and displays your intention, your progress in as much detail as you prefer and the outcome… your thread should titled 1Q22 challenge followed by your project and name. Mine will be 1Q22 challenge Downbytheriver 335 style from a kit with stains. The kit should arrive tomorrow and I’ll start my thread… 

The main motivation is that we’re all in it together but the intention is that we will endeavour to have a result… which will be arrived at by the method, @Roland suggested, as follows...

1st choice gets 5 points

2nd choice gets 3 points

3rd choice gets 1 point

Hopefully this will involve a prize or prizes depending on what we can up with. There’s no limit on imagination, creativity or budget - just join in and share!

Ooh nice. I think the last one of these was what triggered my 5e3 build. 

And this one starting just when I’ve spent half of xmas ordering parts

Mine is technically not a kit but will be a Jaguar.

Embarrassingly I didn't ever finish, or even start, my build for the Q418 challenge. Can I just pick up where I left off?

Desperately want to do a project but need to replenish my savings. Have not finished my current project.

Was tempted by an optical comp kit from jeds peds, though, apparently it's based on the same circuit the thorpy fat general is based on, and that is supposed to be a nice comp. Maybe I'll do it if I have a cheap enough January...

I'm afraid I won't be able to take part as I already have a build in progress that has a couple of months left, but looking forward to the new injection of build threads in M&M to follow!

I've not done anything all pandemic, but I may try and sort a simple 7 string project that has been on my drawing board for some years.

Sooo....does it count if your "kit" is a fully pre-assembled production guitar and some parts and stuff for modding and a mild refinish?

From where I’m sitting it seems to me that anything that generates a good build thread must count…

Just over a month to go - three projects declared finished. Many more in progress. At the moment everybody is playing for glory - if any of our trade (or other) contributors have any prizes to offer please let me know!

I have crashed and burned, as usual. Good intentions, no commitment of time. It's still going to happen, just not before the deadline of this challenge. My progress has been.....about zero.
