@bertie ; - Silk and Steel were used by Donovan on Colours, Catch The Wind etc. They give a mellow, folky tone

Back then you couldn't get phosphor bronze. They wouldn't be around until another ten years or so.

    Which Elixirs did you try?
    80/20s are very bright
    PB nano web is normal,
    PB polyweb is less bright

80/20 ploywebs as , according to elixir they are supposed to be “warm, fast and smooth” seemingly none of those words were applicable

Extra coating. Normally good longevity but the tone suffers :)

i'd have maybe dealt with the tone but the coating made the most horrible noise, nothing like the "almost" additive noise of fingers on strings that you get playing acoustic, I had to fling my had away from the fretboard dramatically to avoid noise, the wife though I was having spasms  :#

It's times like this that Steve's wisdom should be tapped into. I mean, I don't know the bloke but @bertie there is an acquaintance :)

Ive said before,  polywebs are like extra lube'd  condoms for strings  and to me, quite dull - nano's are much less noticeable - but zingier, which for me is a good thing :)

@thecolourbox nice cover, and the BBT sounds ok to me on regular apple headphones.

@bertie ; - if you like zingy (and if they're still made), try those Martins in the red box. They were zing city.

They quickly dulled, though. Not sure if 80/20 or PB :)
