This hurts.  Swell are a band I connected with immediately...dark, stumbling, moody folk-inflected psychedelia.  They never sat easily within the accepted definitions of the 90s, even during their heyday...they weren't grunge or lo-fi or shoegaze or Americana.  They were Swell.  They made some phenomenal, timeless records, which have never been lauded anywhere near enough.  They had a fairly big following on the continent...they toured there a lot, and French and Dutch audiences especially, held them close.

64 is too, too young.  RIP David.
